Update on changes

Setting up your own photography site, or in my case re-organizing my OCPix.com website has been very time consuming. I’ve been putting it off, and like I mentioned in my earlier post, it was time and needed to be done in order to have more freedom and options for the Google Search Engine to properly index my galleries on Smugmug.

With all types of photography projects going on and doing everyday life with family, I have managed to take a few hours here and there and dedicate time to this monumental project. But in the end I know it will be worth it. Today I tackled the task of coping the design I had on my original OCPix site on Smugmug and making the home page here have a similar look. I won’t be able to make it look exactly the same, but that’s ok, what’s important is that the viewer/visitor feels they are connected as one.

I prefer the simple look, so I kept the original clean white look.

I’ve worked with WordPress websites before, so it wasn’t a problem for me. But for anyone that knows, one must still dedicate many hours on design, then adding the backend plugins that enable the site to work in a way that fits your desired goal. Once that is done, then its time to start adding content.

For OCPix, I’ve decided to have a “static” page on the front end, then add a blog section on the “updates” page, which is here where this post I’m writing is located. This is different then some of my other websites, such as OCSurfPix, which the front page is the blog itself.

I think a static page for a photography page works better, at least for me it does. We’ll see how it goes this time around.
