Images from 2012 US Open of Surfing
Looking for images from the 2012 Nike US Open of Surfing? Then you’re in the correct place! Below is a small sample specifically from the year 2011 of this very popular surfing event in southern California. Each year thousands of spectators gather in Huntington Beach to see their favorite pro surfers.
Usually two to three weeks before the event, the construction starts on the south side of the Huntington Beach Pier. A small temporary city is built on the sand, along with a skate park! The event lasts a full week, and thousands of people from Orange County and around the world come to see the surfing event.
We started photographing this event in 2011, you can see last years photos here. The images below are from the 2012 US Open of Surfing, with key sponsor being Nike year. All photos can be purchased for personal use as a digital download or print, no rights are given. This means you may not repost or re-use any of these images for commercial use. After the event, this “small city in the sand” is torn down and the beach will look clean and back to its normal self. But during the event, expect to see crowds of people flock each day to view and participate in the various events.
The US Open of Surfing festival village has a fully air conditioned large store, where the spectators buy all sorts of merchandise targeted towards surfing fans. From beach umbrellas to beach towels, there’s always lots of souvenirs to be had. So the village is always a place to capture great images. Thats also where the music stage is located.
